Crowns & Bridges
Crowns - Crowns or "caps" as they are more commonly referred to are used to cover the outer surface of broken down or damaged teeth in order to protect and reinforce them, they are also used improve cosmetic appearance. At Aviva we offer two types of crowns; those that are hand crafted by our ceramist in the laboratory and fitted over 2 appointments or CEREC crowns which are fabricated in our onsite ceramic studio and fitted in the same visit over about 1.5 hours. Bridges - Dental bridges quite literally “bridge” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. They are essentially false teeth, which are anchored between porcelain crowns to fill the space left by missing teeth. A bridge is usually used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth.
Bridges can help correct bite issues and prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position into the empty space. It should be noted that bridges require additional special oral hygiene care which our hygienist can advise you on.
