Dental Implant Treatment Process
Successful dental implant treatment begins with creating a strong, healthy foundation in the jawbone. To assess this, we start with a CBCT scan, which provides a highly detailed 3D image of your bone structure. This allows us to evaluate whether the bone is suitable to support an implant.
To complement this, we also take a digital intra-oral scan of your teeth and gums. This scan captures the exact shape of your mouth with incredible accuracy—without the need for traditional impressions. The intra-oral scan is then digitally combined with your CBCT scan, giving us a complete 3D model of both your bone and soft-tissue structures. This integration allows us to plan your implant placement with exceptional precision.
If your scans show that the bone is not enough in the proposed implant site, we will discuss ways to increase it. This may include procedures such as a synthetic bone graft, sinus lifting, or other regenerative techniques designed to create a stable foundation for your implant.
Once we have confirmed that the bone is ready, we use the combined digital scans to create a fully customised digital surgical plan. This plan determines the exact angle, depth, and position of the implant—before we even begin the procedure.
Your implant will then be placed using Fully Guided Implant Surgery, one of the most advanced techniques available. The guide, which is created from your integrated scans, allows us to place the implant with millimetre-level accuracy, ensuring the safest and most predictable outcome.
Aviva Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to be among the very few practices in the UK offering this advanced level of digital planning and guided implant surgery, giving our patients superior precision, comfort, and long-term success.
Healing and Crown Placement
Once your implant has been placed using fully guided surgery, it will need time to heal and bond with the jawbone — a natural process called osseointegration. This usually takes around 8 to 16 weeks, depending on your individual healing.
During this period, the implant becomes securely anchored, creating a strong foundation for your final tooth. Thanks to our minimally invasive digital approach, most patients return to normal activities very quickly after the procedure.
When the implant has fully integrated, we take a digital intra-oral scan to design your custom-made crown. This crown is crafted to match your natural teeth in colour, shape, and bite, ensuring it blends seamlessly with your smile.
Once fitted, your new tooth will look, feel, and function just like a natural tooth—giving you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile comfortably again.
