What Are Dental Crowns?
Within dentistry, the crown refers to the top anatomical part of your tooth that is visible above the gumline. When this part of the tooth gets damaged, a dental professional can provide you with an artificial crown to take its place.
Once the damaged area has been removed, the remaining tooth will be used as a post to hold the new crown in place. Crowns are sometimes known as ‘caps’ because they sit on top of the natural tooth.
